The Vice-Presidential Debate

I watched the Vice-Presidential debate. I actually thought it was good… not what I was expecting.   I saw two candidates who responded with compassion and sincerity. Since I am conservative in nature, of course I support the candidate who best represents what I believe in and without a doubt in this election that is Donald Trump and his choice for vice president, JD Vance. But I was also impressed with Tim Walz because it was clear that he was concerned for what is best for the American people, in his opinion. And I believe that he would be a candidate willing to compromise his positions if he clearly believed it was in the best interest of the people. (I was maybe actually wishing, for a minute or two, that Vance and Walz were the ones running for president because of their willingness to be civil with each other).  Walz started off on a nervous shaky ground, but he did fling it off and move forward in an effort to not create a battle zone with his opponent.

Random Thoughts

West Virginia Mountains...  These mountains and hills hold my soul.  It's here that I can breath in the smells of yesteryear. The scents of my childhood. Hay fields, Wild flowers, wild grape vines loaded with grapes, forest smells, pine tree scents, digging sassafras roots to dry for tea making, honeysuckle and locust trees blooming.  As my mind wanders back, I'm a little foggy remembering those wild fragrances. I guess maybe it's been too long and I may need some trigger points. I think a walk in the wild may be needed soon. If only to find my lost soul again. Maybe go looking for a wild blackberry patch or a persimmon tree.  Not so easy to find anymore.  I recall that the taste of persimmons could be yummy sweet or if gathered too early before a hard frost a bitter taste resulting with a dreadful puckered face. Speaking of blackberries if anyone ever picked from a patch in the wild I'm sure the memories of jiggers would come to mind.  I'm remembering the butternut tree that my grandma had growing near her chicken coup. But for the life of me I cannot recall the taste of butternuts. But in the fall of the year harvesting from the walnut trees which were plentiful on the farm supplied our family with lots of walnut kernels for the winter and beyond. We gathered walnuts and laid on the ground to dry out for hauling.  Later after the weather got cold we had a a big rock or stone where we laid the walnuts and cracked them with a hammer.  Many ouches were heard if fingers got in the way!  The walnuts were bagged and put in the freezer until the next candy making.

Sunset Acres

Good Tuesday morning!  It's a fine morning here at Sunset Acres.  Husband has left for his morning walk even though it's already getting steamy outside.  I'm pondering on what this day will bring waltzing by me. Praying that whatever I encounter the Father will be pleased with my choices.  Also, thinking about forgiveness and remembering that I will be forgiven as I forgive others.  May I guard my heart today to not let darkness enter in.  And praying for the leaders of our country... that they will follow the guidance of our creator.  He allows the rain to fall on the just and the unjust.  I'm also keeping in mind that sometimes He puts stumbling blocks in place to accomplish His purpose.  May it all come together for His glory.  ajs
