The Vice-Presidential Debate

I watched the Vice-Presidential debate. I actually thought it was good… not what I was expecting.   I saw two candidates who responded with compassion and sincerity. Since I am conservative in nature, of course I support the candidate who best represents what I believe in and without a doubt in this election that is Donald Trump and his choice for vice president, JD Vance. But I was also impressed with Tim Walz because it was clear that he was concerned for what is best for the American people, in his opinion. And I believe that he would be a candidate willing to compromise his positions if he clearly believed it was in the best interest of the people. (I was maybe actually wishing, for a minute or two, that Vance and Walz were the ones running for president because of their willingness to be civil with each other).  Walz started off on a nervous shaky ground, but he did fling it off and move forward in an effort to not create a battle zone with his opponent.

Having said all of this, what was even more obvious in mainstream media afterwards, was that they were all upset that the candidates had not been on attack mode during the debate with uncouthness. That it had actually concluded with civil respectful composures on both sides. My take-a-way was that either of these men has leadership skills and compassion for what they believe in without becoming ugly and slinging mud. Or at least in the debate setting that is what they displayed.  And that they had enough good manners to show each other respect as human beings, with some composure and elements of courtesy. They both tried to defend the policies of the candidate above them, without compromising their own personal believes. I think that JD Vance came out ahead in this debate as the people’s choice, but to be fair Tim Walz surprised me with his good manners and efforts to be real…

AND there you have it….  My commentary LOL    and you are welcome….     ajs
