Christ The Solid Rock

"On Christ the solid rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand!  All other ground is sinking sand!"

The words and melody of this old hymn continued to roll around in my mind as I realized that I was slowly coming out of a deep sleep.  It's 4:30 am.  The reality of the truth captured by these words seeped into my waking consciousness.  I thought, especially now as so many geographic changes and  instabilities are occurring throughout our land... earthquakes, volcanoes, widespread flooding, sinkholes, fires, dangerous heat, not to even mention the rampant rise of new religions and foreign gods being brought forth and introduced to many during the distraction of hardships with no answers in sight.  Another old hymn comes to mine and I wonder if my faith will be like the faith of those before me.  They were not born to live in this time, but could they have seen ahead with visions and offered up these songs as prayers for the generation that would live in these times?  Could this song have been written for us who were born for such a time as this?

"Faith of our fathers, holy faith!

We will be true to thee till death."

Oh what a faith that may be required, possibly from us!  Yes, it would be a Holy Faith... given and held by the Father.

"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name."

These are the old hymnal lyrics that keep coming to me in the wee morning hours as the world tosses to and fro

"This is my story, This is my song.

Praising my Savior, all the day long"

Yes, just look around... take a good look and think and ask yourself...  "What if this is the last generation?"
